Welcome to Alexis in Wonderland

This post was actually written on March 4th, 2010, not in September 2009. That is when I first set up the spot, but sent the first post on 3/4/10.

This blog is about my adventures as I prepare to leave the working world and face new adventures. Somewhat like one of the people I admire, Anthony Bourdain, I like to travel, eat, write, and unlike him, play golf. You have to get used to the fact that I'm more into appreciation than criticism, but on the other hand, sometimes discussing what doesn't work well may lead to eventual improvement.

My approach is decidedly feminist, irreverent and not very politically correct, which may exemplify in one sentence my tendency to contradict myself. I tend to go from serious discussion to absolute silliness at a moment's notice. You'll learn more of my somewhat libertarian leanings as we progress.

I have traveled a lot in the last 30 years, and will be going on a cross-country driving trip starting on April 1st. My only concern at the moment is having the discipline to write fairly frequently. I'll be joined on the trip by many friends & family, though I'll be doing most of the driving alone. For my family and friends, if you want to join me along the way, just send me an email. I can't wait to get started. I've been many places in this country already, some which I'd like to see in more detail, and some which are relatively unfamiliar to me. Please feel free to comment on what you see. But beware, I've spent many years working very hard (and frequently failing in spite of my friend Stuart's example) to be diplomatic, and now, I'm not so interested. So here goes....................
